Admission requirements

APPLICATION PROCEDURE /ADMISSION STEPS

Dear Parents/Guardians, we appreciate your interest in our school and very much look forward to having you. We know the process of seeking admission to a new school can be veryinvolving.

For this reason, we have outlined a few steps that will make entering Gracedew International School as stress-free and exciting as possible.

First Step

ADMISSION FORM: You will receive the form after you have paid the admission fee, and brought the bank deposit slip to the Administrative Office.
Please complete the form, sign it and return it to the Administrative Office at least a week before school resumes. After the form has been approved, you willbe given the school uniform.

Admission forms will ONLY be accepted for review when

  • Fully completed and signed.
  • Copies of students’ last three terms end of term report cards or the immediate end-of-term report card for students coming to Gracedew.
  • International School are attached.
  • All medical forms including medical authorisation, immunization forms and health information are attached.
  • A copy of the student's birth certificate or passport page and one passport-sized photograph is enclosed.

Information provided in the admission form will largely determine the eligibility of your ward.

The following, however, will also play a key role in that regard

  • A vacancy will be available before you are allowed to write the entrance examination
  • Age: Year groups within the school are not determined by age.
  • Assessment
  • -Preschool {Nursery i.e. from age 2 (Language activities, Number works and Environmental Studies)
    -Primary and JHS (English Language, Mathematics and Science) English language proficiency is a requirement as all subjects are taught in English.
  • Contacting former/present school: Gracedew International School may conduct routine checks on prospective students by requesting a recommendation from their former/ present school.
  • The score marks for the entrance examination should be 70% above.

On Passing the Entrance Examination

  • Parents will be notified with an official Admission Letter from the Administrative Office when they come for the results of the entrance examination
  • There will be an invoice in the Admission Letter outlining all fees and a deadline for settlement
  • An admission, once offered, will be deemed accepted when fees on the invoice are settled in full before the stipulated deadline

Once You Are Admitted
Parents should, upon receipt of the admission letter, do well to secure their place by immediately addressing the following without which their ward/s cannot start school:

  • Payment of tuition and all other fees directly to the designated bank account; details will be provided in the admission letter.
  • A copy of the bank deposit slip must be presented to the administrative office to obtain an official receipt of payment. Please note that payment is only considered complete when the school has issued an official receipt.
  • Receive an Information pack with the Student/Parent Handbook, etc., from the Administrative Office.

Waiting List
The waiting list opens three months before the end of the third term and students will only be allowed to write the entrance examination if vacancies exist. No financial commitments will be required of such students until the school officially confirms their placement.
All students on the waiting list will have equal chance of placement. However, preference will be given to students who already have siblings in the school.

Our headmaster, preschool headmistress and JHS supervisor are always on the premises working together during working hours.

  • All staff have been medically screened.
  • All our staff have an appropriate level of experience, training and qualifications.
  • Children are supervised at all times.
  • We have staff who will provide individual attention to your child if the need be.
  • All our staff have a good understanding of child development and have experience working with children.

Security

  • Wehave a policy on child protection
  • We have a policy on picking up children from school.
  • We have appropriate fire safety and child safety measures in place.
  • We have CCTV cameras in each class and on the whole compound to monitor children and staff movements during and after school hours.
All our school policies and procedures are available for you on-demand in our office and from our staff.

Premises

  • Our premises are well maintained, clean and hygienic, bright and well ventilated.
  • Our premises are safe and secure, with a system in place to prevent unauthorized access to the school and to prevent a child from leaving the premises unsupervised.
  • There is adequate space to ensure comfort in rest and play.
  • A quiet area is available if your child needs to relax.
  • There is space inside and outside where children can play.
  • The outdoor play area is secure and hazard-free.
  • We have adequate facilities provided for the safe and hygienic preparation and storage of food.
  • The kitchen facilities are clean and hygienic with suitable wash-up, hand-washing and sterilizing facilities.

Equipment.

  • Our equipment and furniture are safe, appropriate, well maintained and clean.
  • We have sufficient suitable toys, play materials and resources available to provide stimulating activities and play opportunities for the children.
  • The equipment, toys and materials available are appropriate for the ages of the children and cate to their developmental needs.
